Heart

A heart isn't straight.
Don't try and tell me it is.
A heart is curved,
But still beautiful.
Something that's needed.

I have a heart,
And so do you.
I wear it upon my sleeve,
Yours is hidden though.
Why do you hide it so?

Are you afraid of rejection?
Of hurt or mistrust?
Are you afraid of the monsters?
With a certain blood lust?
Are you just afraid of where it'll go?

I want to quell your fears.
Let me hold you hands in mine,
Don't fear letting go.
I'll show you the way,
Like a child learning to play in snow.

I'll keep the monsters at bay.
I'll reject all the words they say.
I just want to protect you.
I want to love you too.
All you have to do is let me.

Let me in.
Hearts are not straight,
