Sunset promise by Sauny Sunset promise by Sauny
Oh my gosh this took longer than expected, and didn't turn out as good as I wanted it too!! :(
That roof and those supports are driving me mad, they just didn't want to look better. Well i hope you like it, took me AGES to finish.
A bit of background information:
Two ponies with one proposing to the other. Commissioned for a gift to two real people.

Commission for :iconblazefire21: at the cost of 30 :points: (Based on an older price list)
I do not own these characters
I do own this art

(Gonna regret this, *turns critique on*)

I think it was a WONDERFUL job Sauny! I think that you did a wonderful job with the shading, and th ponis holding each other like that really have an effect. I also lik how you did the rainbow sky type of thing, it looks just like a picture thhat I took one day at the beach. I think that this is one of the best pictures of yours that i have seen. The two ponies look really good together. Once again, great job, wonder art work and keep drawing, no matter what any one else says. Good job. lol
What do you think?

I like the white edging around the ponies and the pillars, as the sun's light. The fading on the railing is stunning. The sunset was done very well, mixng the colours together to make a really romantic and beautiful scene. The ponies are well done. Perhaps it could be zoomed in a tad, for the edges of the picture is rather empty and it makes the main point (the ponies) further away from view. Grass and roof are a little plain, but overall it's beautiful, a great commission piece :D
I know you always have your doubts, but this turned out great :D

Thank you Thank you!! This was commissioned by my friend Blazefire21 of me and my fiancÚs OCs because we're both huge fans of the show and recently got engaged, despite living in two different countries. We've managed to hold together an 11 year long distance relationship and are so happy things are finally moving towards being able to spend our lives together!!

You did amazing!! I love how you managed to give depth to the gazebo, and a particulary liked how you did shadows: it made it really life-like! very well done! Also, it's so lovely how you depicted the two characters hugging...so sweet! :)

Aw thank you! But to be honest I hope I never have to do structure again.
I was striving for life like, and sweet. Two aspects I'm not always the best at ^^;

I think it turned out exceptionally well. So there are a few misplaced pixels... Never mind. My monitor is filthy.
Anyway... Attempt at humour aside, I continue to envy your background skills.

I'm not sure about some of the shading and lighting effects, but who am I to judge?

:giggle: Envy me? I don't think so...
Yeah it refused to work this time, very upset about it... And you are someone to judge.

Of fifty something deviations, I've done exactly one with a background. One.
Though that may be laziness on my part.

Okay then... If you insist... I don't think the light falls onto the stair railings very naturally. Assuming they're straight, then the light should hit them along the entire length at more or less the same angle.
But that's not an artistic judgement, merely hours of boredom spent reading about optical phenomena and looking at pictures of rainbows.

Backgrounds are hard, I don't blame you.
Hm, maybe I should read up on it. I should've know that...

If you want to. There are lots of cool things that the atmosphere can do, but the explanations get very technical.

Mm, I might not last that long with technical explanations... But I really should try *internet away!*

Good luck with that.

You might not learn anything useful out of it, but there are certainly some interesting ones.
